From 5th to 7th of June Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection and Emergency Planning (DSB) visited the Ceira’s River Basin in the Centre Region of Portugal. As preparation for the implementation of the pre-defined project “Rio Ceira” – The history, the Environment and the Populations – Green Infrastructures recovery, climate change awareness and vulnerability to climate change reduced in Ceira’s River Basin, Secretary of State for the Environment, Mr Carlos Martins, Secretary General of the Ministry of the Environment, NFP and Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) / Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) through ARH – River Basin District Administration of the Centre Region showed to DSB its Donor project partner the necessary interventions in the field that must take place to increase the resilience to climate change effects at local level. APA, DSB and through partnerships agreements with several Entities essential to implement of this Project, beyond the municipalities of the river basin region (Arganil, Góis, Pampilhosa da Serra and Lousã), a local development association (‘Lousitânea – Liga de Amigos da Serra da Lousã’), NGO (Erio – ‘Rio Ceira’ Association) and University (FEUP – Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto) are going to share experiences in the field and defined a roadmap to implement the Project. The visit started with a tour to the first water reservatoir in Lisbon – ‘Mãe d’Água’ – from ‘Rua das Amoreiras to Praça do Príncipe Real’.
